Dr. Ben Gold is a pediatric gastroenterologist at GI Care for Kids in Atlanta and is currently president-elect of NASPGHAN, the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

Dr. Ben Gold explains that surgery for inflammatory bowel disease is typically the last resort for treatment of IBD. Also, proper nutrition, occasionally delivered through a feeding tube, can be a therapy used to help keep the patient's IBD in remission after surgery.
