Premature babies need optimal nutrition after they're born so that they can continue to grow well after they're born. Dr. Heidi Karpen, a neonatologist at Grady Hospital and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, spoke to an audience of physicians and dietitians at a symposium co-sponsored by Nutrition4Kids and The Children's Care Network or Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, to explain the problems low birthweight babies face and how to address them.
