Jay Hochman, MD
Jay Hochman graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia, then earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Cincinnati at the Children's Hospital Medical Center. While at Cincinnati, he received funding from the National Institutes of Health for molecular biology research of the gastrointestinal tract. His research earned him an award for the best research by a training fellow from the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASPGHAN). He is currently practicing at Children's Center for Digestive Health Care. Earlier, Dr. Hochman coordinated the medical care of liver transplant candidates and recipients as part of the Egleston Pediatric Group. He has authored numerous publications/presentations including original research, case reports, review articles, and textbook chapters on various pediatric gastrointestinal problems and the author of the blog gutsandgrowth. As a member of NASPGHAN, he is helping improve pediatric gastroenterology care on a national level. He has helped develop educational materials on a wide-range of gastrointestinal and liver diseases which are used across the country. Also, he has served as an invited speaker for national campaigns to improve the evaluation and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) . In addition, he is an adjunct Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. Other society memberships include the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Food Allergy Network, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
