Chronic pancreatitis can come on suddenly. You could be feeling fine for a long time then suddenly have a flare up with severe pain. Typically, the pain is just below the ribcage, that can spread or feel like it's going to the back. Another symptom is nausea and vomiting.

Symptoms of chronic pancreatitis

Additionally many people with chronic pancreatitis with also develop exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) with malabsorption. And some will also have diabetes. Fortunately, both of these respond well to medication and diet.

Symptoms of diabetes in children and teens: 

  • Increased urine 
  • Increased thirst and hunger
  • Weight loss.
  • Fatigue or just not feeling well
  • Fruity breath
