15 Kid-friendly whole food snacks

We have a whole list of healthy  fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to help kick those old snacking habits to the curb! Enough of the carb-loaded chips, crackers and cookies.

  • Crunchy vegetables (celery, carrots, cucumber, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, snap peas)  alone or with dressing, dips, hummus or even peanut or sunflower butter
  • Bean salad, cole slaw
  • Edamame 
  • Sweet potato fries / baked potato skins 
  • Nuts and peanuts, if they're over 3 (before then , these foods can go down the wrong pipe
  • Fruit salads, whole fruit, or smoothies
  • Dried fruit (raisins, figs, apricots, prunes, etc) and Freeze Dried fruit
  • Applesauce or pear sauce
  • Yogurt parfait (Granola and fruit with yogurt)
  • Granola and cereal bars (watch out for the high added sugar!)
  • Trail mix (for kids over 3)
  • Popcorn (add different salts or parmesan cheese for flavor, if you'd like)
  • Whole grain crackers with spreads or cheese
  • Oatmeal raisin cookies
  • Date nut, zucchini or banana bread
  • Fruit crisps or cobblers made with oats or whole grains

Many of these snack options will help your child get their daily Five Fistfuls of fruits and veggies which is an added bonus! If you read the list and thought Yeah right! My kid would never eat these foods, It can take up to 15 tries before a kid warms up to a flavor
