Chronic pancreatitis is a challenging condition with its intermittent bouts of severe pain, but it can also lead to:
- Malabsorption from the cell damage that causes EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency)
- Vitamin deficiencies and muscle wasting from the malabsorption
- Bone loss from vitamin D deficiency from EPI
- Diabetes from damage to the insulin producing cellsĀ
- Opioid (narcotic) addiction from the pain medication
- Pancreatic cancer
