To check the severity and when someone can advance to feedings, your doctor will be checking
Your child's pain, nausea and vomiting
Amylase and lipase level
And sometimes an ultrasound to see if there's a fluid collection in the pancreas, known as a pseudocyst, and to assess any damage to the pancreas.
