Don't be salty. Having too much salt or having a sweet tooth can be harmful.

Fortunately, most food additives are safe and some actually increase the nutritional value of food. The two most harmful additives are the most common––salt and sugar––because both can cause health problems like obesity and hypertension. Children who have food allergies may also be affected by additives.

    • Calcium Propionate
    • Citric Acid
    • EDTA (prevents rancidity)
    • Gelatin
    • Thiamin Mononitrate

    • Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
    • Olestra (reduces body's ability to absorb fats)
    • Sorbitol (causes diarrhea)
