Because fat stimulates the pancreas to try to put out more enzymes, people with chronic pancreatitis should try to eat a balanced diet of
- Lean sources of protein like turkey, chicken, fish and beans
- Whole grain breads, cereals and pasta
- Low fat or non-fat dairy products
- Fruits and vegetables (chock full of nutrients)
- Lots of fluids, especially water, to stay well hydrated
- Extra Vitamin A, D, E, and K if malabsorption is present
- Lowering the fat in their diet as much as possible
