Because fat stimulates the pancreas to try to put out more enzymes, people with chronic pancreatitis should try to eat a balanced diet of 

  • Lean sources of protein like turkey, chicken, fish and beans
  • Whole grain breads, cereals and pasta
  • Low fat or non-fat dairy products
  • Fruits and vegetables (chock full of nutrients)
  • Lots of fluids, especially water, to stay well hydrated
  • Extra Vitamin A, D, E, and K if malabsorption is present
  • Lowering the fat in their diet as much as possible
